Scholarship Terms and Conditions
In these Scholarship Terms and Conditions, “Program Sponsors” means The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) and yconic

There is $13,000 available in scholarships. Scholarships are valued at:
- One (1) Grand prize of $5,000
- Two (2) prizes of $2,500 each
- Three (3) prizes of $1,000 each
Each Scholarship will be paid to the selected recipient upon the Program Sponsors’ receipt of valid proof of eligibility.
In order to be awarded a Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria:
The applicant must be an international student on a valid student visa (student permit must be for one year or longer);
The applicant must be enrolled in a degree or diploma program at a college or university in Canada in the 2015/2016 academic year;
The applicant must be residing in Canada by September 30, 2015 for the purposes of attending the 2015/2016 academic year in Canada;
The applicant must be at least 16 years old at the time of application;
The applicant must be a member of yconic;
Employees of Program Sponsors, or its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or representatives, and members of the immediate families and persons domiciled with such employees, are not eligible to receive a prize. Members of the immediate family of an employee include the employee’s parents, children and siblings.
How to Apply:
Applications are available at www.fundyourfuture.ca/internationalscholarship. Applications must be completed and submitted online between January 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. ET (GMT - 5 hours) and March 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. ET (GMT - 5 hours). Applications may be submitted in English or French. All applications become the property of the Program Sponsors.
Scholarship Application Evaluation Criteria:
All qualifying applications will be evaluated by a judging panel comprised of educators, community leaders and Program Sponsor representatives. The following criteria will be used for evaluation:
Clarity of thought and communication of content
All final decisions will be made by the Program Sponsors.
The Program Sponsors or their designate(s) will select the six (6) applications that best meet the criteria set out above, in the sole discretion of the Program Sponsors or their designate(s), subject to the limit of one (1) scholarship per applicant.
By phone and/or email, yconic will notify selected applicants that they have been selected to receive a scholarship. Each selected applicant must submit to yconic, within the time specified by yconic, the following:
A Declaration of Compliance, Publicity and Liability Release signed by the applicant (or the applicant’s parent or legal guardian, if the applicant is a minor) that provides, among other things, (i) that the applicant certifies that he/she meets the eligibility criteria and has complied with all requirements set out above, and (ii) that the applicant consents, without further compensation, to the Program Sponsors’ use of the applicant’s name, city, province or territory of residence, application submission and photograph in any publicity relating to the Scholarship.
Proof, acceptable to yconic, of student visa (student permit must be for one year or longer).
Proof of age, acceptable to yconic.
Proof, acceptable to yconic, of full-time enrollment in a diploma or degree program of study at a Canadian college or university in the 2015/2016 academic year.
Proof of residence in Canada during the 2015/2016 academic year.
The selected applicant must return all such forms/documentation to yconic within ten (10) days of receipt of the forms by the selected applicant. Forms/documentation (where applicable) may be submitted by:

Failure to submit the documents described above within the required time may result in disqualification of the applicant.
Other Terms and Conditions:
By submitting an application, the applicant:
Certifies that the information provided in the application and in any other documents provided in connection with the application is true, accurate and complete, to the best of his/her knowledge.
Authorizes third parties, such as educational institutions and other sources provided by the applicant, to release information (including personal evaluations) to the Program Sponsors to confirm the information submitted by the applicant in connection with the application.
Authorizes the Program Sponsors to disclose any information provided by the applicant in connection with or relating to his/her application to their respective representatives who need to know such information to administer and promote the Scholarship, provided that such information is used only for such purpose. If available, by specifically checking an additional yconic and partners’ information check-box on the application form, the applicant consents to yconic and its partners such as Scotiabank using the personal information submitted with the application including, but not limited to, contacting the applicant in the future to provide electronic newsletters, including email and mailings, and other promotions and product and/or service offerings of the Program Sponsors.
Agrees that the Program Sponsors may aggregate information submitted by the applicant with information submitted by other applicants, and use such aggregated information in anonymous form for reporting, statistical, publicity and promotional purposes.
Agrees that the Program Sponsors may modify, amend or cancel the Scholarship at any time and in their sole discretion, without individual notice.
Agrees to have met all the eligibility requirements of the Scholarship. If eligibility requirements are unmet or false information has been provided then the applicant will be ineligible for the Scholarship.
Agrees to be bound by the decisions of the Program Sponsors or their designate, which shall be final and binding for all purposes.
