When you qualify for a ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students, both you and your parents share the responsibility for making interest payments while you’re in school, and for paying back the principal 8 months after graduation. Your role is that of a co-borrower. You build up valuable credit history that will help you get credit in the future. Although you share responsibility, only your parent, guardian or spouse serves as the primary borrower on the line of credit for students, and therefore has the ability to authorize credit limit increases.

When you apply and are approved for a ScotiaLine® personal line of credit for students you are automatically eligible to win a $1,000 CDN cash bursary. You can apply anytime you want – it’s no longer something that you only do at the beginning of the school year or at the start of a new semester.
