Apply For a Student Line of Credit

Get the financial help you need, when you need it.
Paying for a post-secondary education can be expensive. That’s why you need to explore all the funding options available to you.

Consider applying for a ScotiaLine® Personal Line of Credit for Students to get money for your post-secondary tuition and student expenses when you need it. Borrow as much or as little money from your student line of credit whenever you need it. Plus, the ScotiaLine® Personal Line of Credit for Students can be used as supplementary funding for any Government Student Loans you may have received.

Steps to apply:

What you get:

Revolving line of credit available for full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a certificate, apprenticeship, diploma, degree, or MBA program at an eligible post-secondary institution

Monthly interest-only payments while you’re in school

No cost if there is no balance on your line of credit

12-month grace period after graduation on principal repayment

Great way to establish a credit record by making regular payments

Credit limits starting from as low as $1,000 to a lifetime maximum of $100,000

Funding is provided on an annual basis, maximum amounts depend on the type and length of the program. For more information, click here.

How it works:

When you qualify for a ScotiaLine® Personal Line of Credit for Students, both you and your parents share the responsibility for making interest payments while you’re in school, and for paying back the principal 12 months after graduation.

Your role is that of a co-borrower. You build up valuable credit history that will help you get credit in the future. Although you share responsibility, only your parent, guardian or spouse serves as the primary borrower on the line of credit for students, and therefore has the ability to authorize credit limit increases.

You can apply anytime you want – it’s no longer something that you only do at the beginning of the school year or at the start of a new semester.

1 Rates are subject to approval upon submission of a credit application. Prime means the Prime Lending Rate of The Bank of Nova Scotia.
